looking for good armalite

Jun 29, 2008 9:59am
looking for a good armalite type AEG Been looking at CA, G&G, G&P ICS level guns. I have some concern about some of them shooting hot out of the box and I don't want to have to downgrade it right away to stay within FPS limits because my gun came shooting 405 FPs out of the box.

if you get a gun that is 400+ fps out of the box it wont stay 400+ for ever after the gun wears down the fps drops a little

I have a CA gun with a crane stock and i love it. Thats just personal opinion though. BUT all CA Ar15's/M16's come with the Armalite logo. Even the sportlines.

CA's shoot 330-350 OTB.

I think I'm more likly to go with an ICS or G&G over a TM or CA. I don't care if its supported localy. I have no problem opening up a gun to work on it. what have you seen with G&G as far as quality control?

you may not have a problem opening a gun up to work on it, but it still takes time, money, skill, and effort to fix an AEG with an internal problem. Even if you have all of these things, or you plan to replace troubled parts out of a gun, doesn't it make sense to have your base gun be as reliable as possible so as to cope with the increased stress?

With G&G your pretty much gonna have to replace the entire internals to deal with any upgrades, adn just general stress of normal operations

interesting. Its diffucult to make a purchase when there are so many options and a bundle of reviews for every one saying its the best. I do tend to favor a longer range gun as I have already in my limited play time seen the effect range and accuracy can have.

looks like for just a slight more than a ICS i could get a TM upgraded to 375ish fps from red wolf but your not getting a metal body which isn't all important but at the price of 300.00 I would expect a metal body I would think. all said and donw with battery, scope, charger, assorted upgrades I would like to be below 500 and arounf 400 would be spectacular

Solid stock if you arent CQB. Its solid, steady, and holds quite a large battery. I actually have a VN stock on my M4 because the A2 stock is a tad too big for my arm length, but I'm not going back to telescoping/folding stocks.

I'm sure I could do all the upgrades myself but how much do you need to do to a Tm to make it an exeptional peice of kit? what would I need to replace to get around 380-390fps compaired to waht I ight have to do to a ICS which already has a strong enough gearbox or so I'm told.

To get 380, all you need is a new spring ($15) and metal bushings ($10). And a 9.6v battery if you don't already have one, but you'll want one of those anyway for any of the other guns you are looking at.

FPS isn't everything. If you want range than change your hop-up.

If you want a reliable, solid M16 i suggest the M16A2 at AEX. Heres a link if u want to check it out (http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1895), and with an upgrade from AEX you can easy get that gun shooting 350+. Anyways if you didn't know already the AEG FPS limit here at SacAir is 400 FPS...

so you guys are in general agreement that the TM m16 with a m110, metal bushings, hopup bucking, tightbore. will be an exelent gun?

CA's dont nessisarily need upgrades unless you want it to be a sniper or something

well I understand that AEG's arn't the best snipers anyway but range is nice.

most AEGs get about the same range, upgraded or not

yeah, an M16A2 with a 9.6v batt, M110 (or an SP100), and guarder or systema bushings will do just fine.
Jun 30, 2008 6:49am
I don't understand. some people say that almost all AEG's have the same range but other say longer barel guns like the M16 have better range. which one is it? If I could get the same range out of an M4 I would do it but I have heard that m16's are more accurate.

all airsoft guns have the same range if the hop up is the same because they all move the same mass of projectile with the same amount of energy.
Jun 30, 2008 7:24am
thanks for all the help guys. I guess its probebly going to be the TM m16a2.

oh one question on the TM m16. I hear that the TM outter barrels are multi peice and that can cause some extra barrel wobble? can that just be taken care of by tightening the barrel down a little more? and I just noticed that the a2 m16 dose not have a removable carry handle? what will that restrict me to as far as optics?
