swapping RIS

Jun 30, 2008 6:00pm
So I was thinking about tossing a RIS kit on my CA M4 and looking at the price and why I want the RIS kit, it just doesn't seem to add up. So I was thinking about buying a donor gun to take the RIS set up off of and bolt it onto my weapon. From what I have seen its pretty much swpping out everything from the delta ring out as long as the thread size and direction are the same. SO I was looking at some clone guns on ebay that have a RIS set up on them and are about $50 shipped and I was thinking about picking one up just for the RIS and maybe an extra mag and speed loader. Anyone have any info on doing this. Anyone try this and it not work with certain companys. I was thinking about using the Dboys gun I found.

If you have a standard all metal CA M4, the CA RIS unit will go right on without any parts swapping. Just like taking off your hand guards.

only problem with taking it off of a cheap ebay clone is that the whole system is probably plastic. i would try to get a donor gun and split it, then sell the donor, or keep it as a back up

well, I know JG's have all metal RIS. You could buy a used one off of ebay and swap out your hand guards to the JG. :D
