Piston Mod?
What does removing the second piston tooth do?
Helps with the longevity of the piston in high ROF guns.

So would I need to file a tooth of the sector gear? Would be ok for 15 + rof? And this is the picture of what i meant to be clear.
Thats a picture of a stripped out piston. But it looks close at least.

no. It might need a new one though coming up. Had it for 6 months.
Replace it when it breaks. Do the mod to the new piston. Won't hurt it.

ok, so even if its not that great of rate of fire it still helps? And what about swiss cheesing? Is it good? And thank you for your time and effort.
Never done the swiss cheese thing.

Ok Thank you. I will dremel that tooth down on my new piston.
DO NOT swiss cheese unless you know exactly where to swiss.
Removing that tooth pretty much does the same thing as a "sector chip". It delays the contact between the sector gear and the piston, so that the piston "cycles fully" which sometimes does not take place with large batteries combined with small springs.

A sector chip affects the cycling of the tappet plate and can help correct feeding issues related to high rates of fire. The piston mod doesn't do this.
Ask your tech, manager boy  . The piston mod and the sector chip accomplish the exact same thing. With the piston tooth missing the sector gear makes contact with the piston a bit later therefore letting the piston reset 100% The piston mod just goes about it and different and Free way.

I've also seen the teeth taken off of the piston to ensure proper gear engagement.

Yeah, whatever works for you. The thing is I am running 11.1 li-ion now and have ran them in my last 3 aeg's without sector chips and they all feed great, no skipping, sputtering etc etc. My two closest friends also have them in there setups with just the piston mod no sector chip, and they feed great as well..

I completely agree about the voltage spike with the piston being out of cycle or short stroking. I will concede that under the low side of high ROF guns that that would indeed help minor feed issues.
