This weapon injects a frozen ball of compressed gas approximately the size of a basketball at 800psi nearly instantly. The effects of this injection will drop many of the world's largest land predators. The effects of the compressed gas not only cause over-inflation during ascent when used underwater, but also freezes all tissues and organs surrounding the point of injection on land or at sea. When used underwater, the injected gas carries the predator to the surface BEFORE blood is released into the water. Thus giving the diver added protection by diverting other potential predators to the surface.
Dude, tis compressed air. Come on, read what you quoted. " A frozen ball of compressed air" Really, I have never seen a frozen compressed air ball myself. The "benefits" is the release of compressed air, not the "freezing". The freezing did not cause that watermelon to burst.

And Andrew, apperently, there are concerns in the UK that gangs will get ahold of these things.

I wish i learned about ideal gas law in 8th grade.

Always wondered what taking a pressure stored volume of solid-form gas and suddenly heating it via explosion so that it changes states from solid to hot gas would do to nearby structures and what that type of pressure wave would do to, say, the human body. Never took the time to do the math though.

I saw this on Current.com, it looks like it belongs in Shadowrun or one of William Gibson's cyberpunk novels.
