what is a delayer?

Jul 25, 2008 4:50pm
i am purchasing a sig 552 commando (JG) and it says that the delayer is preinstalled. I am wondering what is a delayer and what does it do?

I would assume they are referring to what is also called a 'sector chip'. It's a disc that enlarges the size of the post that pulls back your tappet plate. This leaves your air nozzle back for a longer duration of time allowing bbs to have a longer opportunity to feed from your lower hop up into your barrel area. Particularly useful for higher speed setups.

so this will allow me to shoot more bbs with less chance of a missfire? so it is a good thing to have installed in a gun? Srry for all the questions i am new to these things

It would slow down a stock set up, slowing the rate of fire. Yes, you'll be able to completely empty a magazine, but a stock set up will do it much faster.

so it would be a bad idea to purchase a gun that has a delayer preinstalled if it shoots 17 rps. like the sig 552 commando.

all right so what would the delayer do. Would it make my gun shoot bbs with less miss fires? Also how much would a top rail for a jg gun cost?

A delayer helps you hold back until she's ready...
