ok well we use safariland thumb breaks, step 1. grip pistol. step 2. flick thumb break forward. step 3. pull out pistol. step 4. while gliding up to your waist, release safety. step 5. FIRE! just keep doing this and you will get used to it.

I carried my duty weapon in a level 3 holster with the safety off.
If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.

while the safety is defined as a mechnical device meant to fail, in professional armed sistuations, police, military, etc. you are required to have your side arm on safety while holstered.

my gun doesn't have a safety  SIG 226 FTW

I agree with wraith667. Even IPSC shooters put their weapons on safe when competing. All u need is practice from a draw to turning it off.

Edited my above post. I was sleepy as hell and my message was contrary to what I wanted to say.

I don't have any "official" training.
In close range combat, an unsuspecting melon will get the back of its melon blown off.

Getting some semi clear answers here, but I'm not sure that everybody is sure exactly what it is that I'm asking.

I'm happy I don't have to deal with a mechanical safety. I do like the de-cocker though.

The 1911 has a beavertail safety. My Colt Python....well I can't really FIND the safety, and I hear it's all but useless.
Armalites? Psch, Armalites are for good guys.
