First Upgrade
Ok, so i plan on upgrading my ECHO 1 M4 internally and externally. i have the external covered ad know quite a bit about it. Now when it comes to the internals i'm like and amish person in best buy. So i was wondering what internal upgrades i should do. I know that all upgrades just depend on what you would like to better in the gun. So with that said i would like to increase my range. So what do i need to do?

I heard this motor was good and its cheap too.
TM EG1000 = best all around performer. Durable with decent rpm and torque

thanks for the advice. I'll check out the TM

increase your range by getting a better hopup unit and bucking.

ok and if i get a bigger spring and motor should i upgrade the gears?

The motor only turns the gears nothing more nothing less.

because my motor broke, the gears are stripped and my spring has been in the cocked position for a month or two

if it's under warranty still get it replaced that way first. Looks like you need a complete overhaul you might want to consider just getting a systema drop-in gearbox that's very popular these days.

That's the kind of information you might want to give in the first post.

ok thanks. i didnt think of that. and i will look into the systema drop in gearbox

watever u do dont lube ur gun my echo 1 broke cause i used gear lube
yeah it probably ate away at all the plastic parts. you are only supposed to use silicon oil in your gun.

uhhhh what kind of gear lube did you use? And no you are not restricted to silicone oil only. I think the both of you should quit posting for a while and do a whole lot more reading.

ok all of that aside now. where would you sugest i ge ta drop in gearbox. i looked at airsoftgi.com and they were out of stock. thats where i get all my stuff if not getting it off of here.

A quick lesson in economics here kids. You bought an Echo-1 for $155. Gearbox internals completely shredded. Now you're looking to replace everything with say a systema drop-in @ $200. Oh wow!!! look here 155+200 = $355. That's more than a TM M-4 or a CA M-15 series.

A choice I made and will have to deal with. oh well

and you should choose to google also.

A battery is generally a good way to go for a first upgrade. Especially if you own a chinese made battery as those batteries have a probelm holding a charge. A battery upgrade will both increase your rate of fire and how long you can stay in the game.
my friends and I all bought echo1's together, and we've all been upgrading them on our own. we all put in this motor and we absolutely LOVE it, it increases ROF by a lot.

would a hack saw suffice?
Chances are you will want to take it over to AEX to size it up because they will have several barrels laying around to find a close fit. Thats what I did. A hack saw might work to start it off, you will want some thing with fine teeth and then sand it down with several different grains of sand paper. Maybe various grains of wet auto sand paper to smooth it out?
that sounds like a shitload of work...the crappy thing is, the manual I got with the gun isn't actually the manual for the same model...it's for a different mp5 model =/ I just love Chinese clones...
