So I'm a newbie to airsoft and i was wondering in order to upgrade the spring on my classic army M16A4, what else do i have to change( like do I have to change the bushings, the gearbox, and the motor) in order for it to function right.
i would say just change things as the break but in the future you may want to get some new gears maybe a bigger motor and battery.

You need to ask what FPS you are looking for. The answer to your question changes based on that. A lot of springs shouldn't require any change in the gearbox besides checking the shimming and making sure you don't have too much grease. Higher springs, torque type gears so you don't overload the motor. And maybe even a motor if its an older gun or high enough of a spring. And then there are battery choices.....

Well, I just want to upgrade mine to around 400FPS. Right now it's at 344FPS.
You can get away with just a spring and a good quality 8.4v battery.
