tactic talks: corner
Just curious of how you guys handle a corner. Now we are just talking about is just a plain old 90 degrees left or right turn corner.
Be like Chesty Puller and Marine the hell up!
Most effective way that I know of is to pie or slice the pie. I use that all the time, with so much effectiveness that sometimes people say I am blind firing.
Depends on the situation. I've done the standard "slice the pie" and then I've done some stuff that doesn't have a name. And probably shouldn't to save others from thinking it's a good idea.

I see absolutely no point to that.

"Remember Jimmy Mackaway on the yard used to say, If you wanna be making moves on the street, have no attachments, have nothing in your life you cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat in you spot the heat around the corner..."
last night at Davis, we had a pistol fight and it was a bit dark, so I got to a corner, jumped out and shot at the first thing I saw move-a guy about 3 feet away...we shot each other at the same time...probably NOT the best way to handle that situation haha
My CQB training is pretty limited since I was always pulling overwatch and CQB with a M21 is a big no go. But alot of times we could manage to pull of a "Quick-Peek" this is used since none of us had CQD (close quarter defense) training. The problem with the "Quick Peek" method is you most always lose the element of surprise and we found while doing it in early morning hours or the evening, it was very difficult to find your targets due to shadows. However, we used the pie slice quite a bit, but we found that the most effective way to clear corners is the "High Low." We used it for clearing a "T" intersection or hallway but found it was also an extrememly aggressive way of clearing corners. The "high low" involves two operaters taking the corner, one in a crouch position the other standing upright. The only issue is you need your whole fire team to move as one. In the begining its really tough, but enough practice makes really effective. And when you're watching it through your scope at 200m it looks like the most kickass thing in the world.

Pieing the corner is when you tilt and move your head and gun around a corner so that you can see in the room however, they can't see you.
oh, ok i didn't know it was called that.
Somehow, I find that manuever soon to be gone from our armed forces skill set. As it's increasingly becoming routine that the ROE requires a positive and affirmed target identification. The idea of collateral damage due to a firefight is becoming a political & PR taboo.

The human eye generally scans at about 4 feet up. It is not a battle proven idea nor is it comfort but if you poop out the first 3 inches of your face and a just a pistol you will get that half a second needed to get that shot off. I "sneak" all the time for work. I have used the same "sneak" in airsoft in the old CQB bulding and gotten some awesome kills. It works for airsoft. Im not cetain about real life.
