As far as upkeep goes, just lube it every so often.

If you're concerned about the slide a recoil spring set from Guarder will dampen the impact a bit. Recoil/hammer spring sets are at AEX Sac and run for less than $15

Just go ahead and use propane in it. The adapter is only about $20 and it will save you a lot of money in the long run. Airsoft Innovations sells a kit that has different gas adapters as well as a light-weight silicon lube to charge the magazine with on occasion to keep the o-rings moist. Good luck!

All I use in mine is green gas(over a year) and no issues, if you go propane make sure to use silicone too so you don't dry out your seals.

WD-40 is not a silicone it is a lubricant and a petroleum based one at that. Silicone is also a form of lubricant but it is not petroleum based it is believe it or not silicone based.

To keep them from drying out in the future using propane, just make sure you use enough silicone when filling your mags, I usually just spray some in the gas port on the top of the mag(you'll need to push in the gas valve first to spray in the silicone)then fill it with propane, and always leave a small amount of gas in your mags when you're done for the day to keep the O ring sealed.
