GBB+heat

Sep 7, 2008 4:05am
I made an interesting observation tonight. GBB pistols don't shoot if the mags have been in the heat...the blowback won't work and it will fire, just not very far...the solution to this? find a way to cool down your mags (duh). something that works pretty good is purging the gas a little and refilling it. a few guys and I had this happen to us tonight, and it's slightly a pain in the ass...

almost all GBB's operate better when using warm magazines, with the exception of most KSC and cheap guns... all marui and kwa pistols i've fired operate better using warm or hot mags...

what do you mean by better? because I think 3 other guys tonight had the same problem I did

Typically they will shoot harder, have more recoil, more shots per mag full of gas, etc. = better

Heres my take on it:
And of course, if you have a hotter mag, your hammer spring may not even be strong enough to strike the valve to allow sufficient gas to flow through. Hence, the shorter shots, less blowback, and sometimes the short stroke.
Hah, I was at that game. Lots of peoples pistols were screwing up.

Yup. So for a while, you notice that I did not use my G17 at all. I was using the mags in the G26. The hammer spring on that is sufficient to crack the seal, although I am still apprehensive about using it a lot in high heat.

Just do not fill the magazine all the way. If you do fill the magazine all the way release some gas with your thumb on the valve. That works for me.

methhead... i've left my mags in the car on a 100 degree day all day then grabbed one and popped it in and had zero problems. Try putting a new spring kit in and make sure you have a metal slide. All the GBB's i've ever owned worked better hotter and all were upgraded

up to a point that is. If you're GBB is tuned for maximum efficiency then on q 100+ day you'll blow the o-ring off. The only viable long term solution is to use 134a
