What brand of car audio do you recommend?

Sep 12, 2008 2:41am
I am looking for a mid-price car receiver that will allow me to control an iPod in my car. I would like to have one that will show me what is currently playing on my iPod, something my current Pioneer doesn't do. I know to stay away from Sony and some other brands. Is Alpine still a good brand? Thanks in advance.

Better audio advice can be found at one of the hundreds of Automotive Audiophile websites found on the internet.

Any issues with Sony Confirmed? I've had mine for well over four year and no issues. the AUX works fine with all my iPods.

I have a Pioneer Premiere deck for about a year now, can't go wrong with them.

JL and eclipse

Nothing wrong with sony persay but they aren't the best deck to get. It'll work and you'll have sound but I've never liked the sony interface. I used to like the Alpine decks 6 years ago but i'm not impressed lately. Pioneer is consistent quality.

Oh ya forgot about JL... I've heard good things about their subs and amps. Absolutely detest Fosgate though.

Honestly there isn't much excuse to get a crap deck these days... you can get awsome deals on brand new car audio equipment on ebay.

I'm sure I could, but the small risk of getting a defective or DOA item in the mail, not being able to install it in my car, or doing the installation incorrectly deters me from going that route. I -know- installing a deck is easy, as well as the speakers. But if something were to go wrong, and I'm left high and dry, I got a bumb deck in my car and out several hundred bucks.

Lol check the sellers rating, check if its new or used or refurbished that you are bidding on. Then after that i always buy things via paypal using my AMEX so if they send me a bad unit or not as advertised i call AMEX and tell them and i get a full refund without having to deal with paypal. Had that happen with a MiniSD card and AMEX took care of it.

To ammend what I previously posted about decks only I would recommend the following for car audio components:
