Check your gear bearings/bushings for damage.

When it 'locks up', is it on semi? Does moving the selector to auto do anything different?

It does lock up on semi, moving it to auto lets me fire it for a bit then that also locks up. The upgrades I listed were the only ones done so i dont think they replaced the stock bushings
The stock was on really tight so I loosened it a bit and haven't had the gun lock up on me yet...I don't know if that was the issue or what.
The barrel length will not cause that problem. That 'fump' sound, sounds like a jam to me.
