I was wondering how effective a combination of a scope and a red dot sight in front of it is for a sniper. I saw it on a video and apparently the dot is calibrated to the middle of the scope. Does that actually work or not.

It really depends on what situation you will be using it in.

So your implying that for like sacair games, it wouldnt be sufficient.

No I'm saying what situation will you be using this set up for? Marksmen? Sniper? Ect. Ect.

A scope usually magnifies what your looking at, a red dot scope doesn't.

Ok well you should have made that clear. Anyway a sniper only usually does sniping and a marksman is trained in sniping, assault rifles and ect.

ive heard of mounting a red dot ontop od a scope so u can use your sniper weapon at close ranges without having to look in the scope. is that what ur talking about

oh sorry i guess i wasnt too clear. i mean put a red dot scope in front of a zoom scope on the rail. This is what i mean...

yeah the point of a scope is to line up the point of focus to the point of impact through adjusting the scope and what not. overall in close ranges that would be effective but my guess is from 300 meters on or so it becomes useless. mounting the red dot on top of the scope however is useful when engaging targets at short distances. i guess the same principle could be implied in that case, but for farther shots you would need to turn the red dot off.

yeah.lol what that guy has works fine because its not a scope. but yeah ive seen it done before and it doesnt look to bad.
