Darn, I might have to join you guys every once and a while. I've got everything but the M-14. An M3 grease gun would be nice!

airborne impression including garand. $750. If someone here doesn't jump on that I might find a way too. Too good of a deal. Or of someone wanted to split it with me we could work something out.

Damn thats a good deal, especially with a 2nd bat garand. Now all you need are some corcorans and a helmet and you have a perfect impression
You'd have to modify that jump suit with the standard Normandy mods if your going to do June 44.

Standard mods being the reenforcements on the knees and elbows?? No 101st jump with the unreenforced on D-Day?? Interesting, didn't know that. You are like a walking talking amazingly interesting book.

The reinforcements were mostly a 101st thing, the extra pockets mostly a 506th, 82nd didn't have the reinforcements.

read my post again. Do your homework. Then maybe you'll be ready to learn.

Oh, and I doubt that photo is the Normandy campain. Where is their gas-detection brassards? I'm sure your familair with the other campains before "D-day".

Yes I'm fully aware that units and soldiers in the 82nd PIR had re-enforcements. My comment on the 82nd not having re-enforcements was wrong, not what I meant to write. Attempting to edit the post and articulate myself correctly would only add fuel to the fire of insulting me. However for you to stand up and make just as false of a claim that every paratrooper had them expect for a handful, who must of been on KP duty is as ignorant as your claiming me to be. If not more so, because you slung the mud first.
I am not arguing against the fact that there where paratroopers that did not get thier reinforced uniform back from the riggers. The only point I wanted to make was that if your going to put together an impression of US paratroopers in WWII then do what was the most commonly seen impression.

Play nice boys :D To be honest, you both know more about the 101st then I do and I thankful for the help and the information. I have been researching WW2 for as long as I can remember and it's amazing to me how much there is to learn. WW2 maybe one of the most traumatic events in human history, and with the scope and scale if it there is simply more to learn then any person can in there lifetime. That is part of what drew me into WW2 when I was young, and I am still fascinated by it all these years later.

I think its a good thing that we are all so passionate about WWII history. Most kids in highschool today have no clue of the events leading up to WWII and its aftermath and how these events shaped the world we know of today.

haha.. I got in trouble a few times in high school for correcting my history teacher. Even in college I was amazed how they kinda skimmed over WW2 and really white washed it.

Ha! Same here. When my history teacher touched on the SS he said "100% pure Aryan German, Blah, blah" Then I politely asked him about all the foreign legions of the SS : Lativia, Croatia, etc. "Muslims in the SS?"

The problem I see is there is a lot of dis-information out there and a lot of teachers and historians who mix their opinion with facts. Then you add in all the video games and movies, you get a lot of distortion into the real facts. At the same time though, it does help bring in a lot of extra interest, which is what is needed
Lets get a post up of US and Allied soldiers. Infantry or paratrooper and who is going to show up at the Jan. 14,2009 game in uniform.
Actually I was just about to post something like that tonight, a roster for the 101st unit. Those who are serous and working on getting an impression together send me a PM.

How many uniformed or partially uniformed troopers can you field by the first weekend of March?

I'm thinking we need to plan a WW2 game like the October game John wanted to do.
I now have some loaner gear. I have a spare m42 jacket, and pistol belt with canteen and a few ammo pouches. Don't have a spare helmet or suspenders or pants, however I'm working on it. Basicly it's not a full correct impression, but it will work.
