What you witnessed was Natural Selection in action.

You should have called the police and given a description and his name.

funny, i have a similar story... as i was coming home from last day at school today two freshman(go figure) were shooting at each other in thier front yard, as about 20 cars watched them while we sat in traffic. and the best part! the guns were two aegs painted in real colors and you guessed it! no orange tips! iwas so f#in pissed
the problem here is someone still thinks they are toys, which they are but not THOSE kinds of toys.
Maybe a month ago I'm walking from 24th st. to 16th Mission Bart Station just to take a stroll after school in San Francisco when I see two young kids shooting eachother with cheap chinatown typa airsoft springers with crappy lasers on them. This happened when I was walking into the Bart station, where were the bart cops that I always seem to see when nothing is happening? I told them to put the guns away and that they would get the same charge as brandishing a rs gun in public, because to my knowledge that is the same charge.

I would have to agree with everyone of you. Airsofting got banned here in Davis because kids were acting stupid and playing without any protective gear at all and getting in trouble with Davis PD. Also on the news some guy in Sac who stole some private property of this lady got arrested and the police found to them what looked like a real sub machine gun out in the guys house in plain sight. Kids and other peopl these days thinking that they can just have these out in the open or brandish them out in public and think it's funny. Myself on the other hand treat these airsoft guns as real weapon like most of us here would do i assume. I keep all my guns either in gun case/bag or in its box and the ammo in a separate bag all mags out of the guns and unloaded. This is just my two cents and I hate to see our hobby get bad mouthed because of these people.
exactly. airsofting is getting bashed more and more in sac because of idiots using them so casually in plain view. There are more articles in the sac bee now about airsoft guns and realism. and people getting burglarized with them too. Damm kids these days. people are no damm good
If you're calling the police about a kid with an airsoft gun, MAKE SURE YOU CLEARLY STATE THAT IT'S AN AIRSOFT GUN. A few police calls that end in a scolding won't mess up our sport -- especially if responsible airsofters are the ones notifying the police in the first place.
Gun control is not Crime control.

"Remember Jimmy Mackaway on the yard used to say, If you wanna be making moves on the street, have no attachments, have nothing in your life you cannot walk out on in 30 seconds flat in you spot the heat around the corner..."
But seriously if they want to shoot eachother do it in the backyard. Even if you have an orange tip don't shoot or brandish it out front. Someone could see it from far away and not be able to see if it has an orange tip. I remember some idoit went to AEX and walked with his gun out black tip someone called the police on him because they thought it was real I beleivd he was charged. Whenever I go to AEX and have to bring my gun I put in a gun bag. Even if it had a orange tip I'd still put it in a bag it's just common sense
I've seen AEX turn people away for not bringing their guns in a case.

lol my friend once brought his pistol in a lunch bag because he didn't have a case but hey it was covered
You want to talk reality issues... Find the ROTC student from UC Davis that brought a simulated M16A2 to the UCD campus about 2 years ago. Ask him what he was thinking when the UCD Police Department found him on the top floor of the Math/Science building. Ask him what he was thinking when he noticed they were armed with G36k assault rifles and Benelli shotguns, all pointed in his face.
