cracked gearbox

Dec 25, 2008 8:58am
I am pretty sure the gearbox on my tm mp5 is cracked. I see a line going through the gb when i look into the mag well. Will this affect the performance? Should i get it switched out with a non-cracked gearbox?

I had the same problem years ago. I went down and picked up a Systema GB from aex. Ver. 2 boxes crack, poor design.

should i just stop shooting it? This sucks... i just got it back from aex not to long ago and now i have to buy a new gb shell and get it fixed again... How will the systema gearbox hold up with a guarder sp100, thats what i had in the tm gearbox. Would it be better to use a 7mm gearbox?

I cracked my TM mp5 gear box not too long ago as well. Though mine split all at once on both sides so there was an immediate noise change and no bb's were feeding.

that makes sense... my gun did start makin different noises then usual when shooting. Also my gun did stop feeding, i made a post about it below this... Hm. im probably going to have to take it back into AEX. will i be ok with the 7mm bearing bushings that come with the systema gb? im running it with a highspeed motor will it break down faster than if i used regual bushings?

Use bushings. My systema bearing failed on me and I lost my gears and piston. You know I used a cracked gb on my old tm m4 for almost 1 year without any issues. I finally replaced it but it never gave me any issues.

That gearbox will work. Reinforced doesn't mean anything significant.

Here's what I think if you care to know. Been out out of it for a while so I don't really know if things have changed.
