Help - Q's on GBB Rifles

Jan 1, 2009 2:48am
Can anyone give me some general feedback why or why not you use GBB weapons (Non-pistol). Are they less reliable, pain in the ass to work on, etc? besides the obvious high expense. Thanks for your help.

There is no reason to use or not to use GBB rifles. I personally have used several such as, WA M4, WE M4, and got to test the GBB AK from Evike. Anyway I'm not going to waste my and your time bickering about the pro and cons between why I think GBB's are better. All I'm going to say is I think GBB are more realistic in a lot of ways. Such as blowback, no wires to mess with, more efficient than AEG's, no charging of batteries, exct., exct. You get my point. Anyway that's just my take on GBB's.

But how does the GBB rifles perform in cold weather?

Depends on how cold you are talking about? But most perform badly in cold weather. And if you know GBB's then you know GBB's are supposed to be used in humid climates.

Why?

Because they run more efficiently (MY OPINION) and the gas won't run out in one shot, like they do in winter.

I am very aware that temperature drastically affects the pressure of the magazine of a non HPA powered GBB; And that that now affects the performance of said gun. I think most, not all, most airsoft 'players' know this.

The only Gas rifle I would purchase would be one that could run off an external air source. That is the only way to get a good skirmishable GBB rifle. With an external air source you can put a regulator in line and you now have a consistent pressure and consistent velocity. Which means you can reasonably set the velocity of your gun pretty easier for different playing fields. External air guns usually take AEG magazine to. Cost bonus.

Andrew, we can go back and forth all day and all night. All I was stating was MY OPINION! I made that clear in my post. So good night all!

You probably know already but they (unregulated) are not allowed to be used at sacair games.

Thanks for all the help. I was unaware that they were not legal at Sacair games. I was thinking about the new WE M4, but I don't know what guns are "regulated". Is there a way to modify them to be?

Awesome. haha thanks. I was definitley llooking to have a GBB rifle for skirmishing. I don't have that much money to buy an expensive gun to be a collector item. I need to shoot people if I spend that much.

Regulated gbb rifles are also known as "classic". The regulator which majority of classic user use is the Palmer's combined with a tank, either CO2 or HPA (High Pressured Air). With the regulator you regulate the psi and thus control the consistent of your fps. It is a lot more efficient when it comes to gas , CO2 and HPA can be refilled at locally found paintball stores. Depends on the classic, aeg magazines can be used and saving big bucks.

I wonder how hard it would be to convert a WE M4 to external air. I mean it uses an escort like system just the gas is taken from the top of the mag instead of a tank.
