I have decided i don't want to mount an m203 to the barrel of my m15a4. I also don't want to fork out the cash for a new barrel system that accepts rails. I have decided that maybe I'll Drill some holes into the handguard of my m15 and attach g36 rails to the hand guard. I will then attach an m203 ris to the rails. This way i can avoid the stupid half-grip look. does this sound like a good idea?
you'll drill into the inner barrel and its a horrible idea.

Actron makes handguard length bottom rails for M4 grips. Or you can sometimes find real steel versions on ebay.
Yeah, there are actually rails designed to be put onto the bottom of m4 handguards.

If by that you mean that it will sit too low and be incredibly hideous, well then...yeah

well with one of those handguards it probably wouldn't be sitting any lower than with a normal ris unit. Not by much anyway
