metal = more durable

the metal piston head could cause more wear on the rest of the internals, but will last longer than the plastic piston head. metal piston heads are usually only needed in high FPS set ups (lets say around 380-400).

If it's a V2 gearbox the al piston heads will increase the likelihood of the shell cracking.

Polycarb piston heads are all you will ever need. Like, the one that came in the gun.

mmm ok another question. drew you upgraded my scar n cqb with 120 springs, but there hitting like 375fps for the cqb and like 385fps for the scar so, should i have gotten 130 springs instead?

Metal pistonhead alone should be fine. Just not using that metal pistonhead in conjunction with metal cylinderhead, that will shorten the life of the gearbox shell for sure.

A good $15-20 polycarb piston head should be all you ever need, and if it does happen to break, it won't be as likely to take other parts with it.

i was actually told by a gun tech at AEX oakland that polycarb piston are more durable than metal ones. polycarb pistons will flex. metal ones will not flex and are more prone to chipping and shattering IF they don't split your gearbox into a couple pieces first.

How did you continue to use the gun? I had the same problem with my old TM M4. It was broken at the cylinderhead area and I didn't even realize until my hop up unit also broke from the impact.
