I've had a similar problem with one of my PCs in the past. Trying to work out a fix became a massive headache. I finally opted to just start over. Shut everything down and did a hard reset of the router back to factory settings and set everything up anew. A bit obnoxious and a little time consuming, but it worked. Before you throw the laptop across the room give it some consideration.

I had the exact same problems and symptoms as the OP. My PS3, laptop (x2), and other wireless devices all connected perfectly but when I tried connecting my new laptop, a Dell Inspiron E1505 running Vista, the network map would show I was connected to the internet but I would not recieve any pings. A hard reset of my router did not work, nothing worked. Linksys/Comcast could not help me. I did some research online and I found that my particular Linksys router had problems with the Vista OS. I flashed my firmware with the firmware of a similar router but was Vista compatible and things work like a charm now.

The problem, supposedly, is with the laptop itself. I pinged 127.0.0.1 and lost all four packets. Pretty well points to a hardware problem no?
