Army vs. Marines
I am now 17 and plan to be enlisting soon. My goal is to become a sniper, which branch do you guys suggest I would be better off in. not looking to start a war or anything, just asking for opinions.

MARINES pass w/ good marksmenship and go to scout sniper school

"its god's job to judge the terrorist; its our job to arrange their meeting" -USMC- my senior quote
My main concern is that I have a very slight color deficiency. I have talked to the Marine Recruiters who say that my vision is well outside of the "discouraged" area and is acceptable, while the Army School seems to be very strict on that rule. In the end it will all come down to that technicality, but I am interested to here what people think of the Different branches Snipers

marines work in pair which imo is superb, spotter and shooter are complementary and one role helps the other :D

i believe army works in pairs too. all sniper teams have two elements, shooter and spotter

not true finland, norway and others operate alone, though not sure what army is all about :)

Not to burst any bubbles, but do you have a back up plan JUST incase neither branch feels sniping is for you?
fall back is infantry, but I plan on making it. Im not saying it wont be hard, Im just saying I will keep moving forward, no matter how hard it is.

Cool, my friends brother joined, really only had his heart set on one thing they had him do another and he was miserable for 4 years. FYI - he was an idiot though.
lol, im smart. the ASVAB told me so :D but yeah people dont plan on not making it but it doesnt mean there as determined as me :D

Pursue a decent-paying job in the civilian world that will keep you and your girl afloat.
Gun control is not Crime control.
ive been pursuing a careen in the military for 6 years. I know what I want to do, and the military is it. My girl supports me 100% of the way, (I wonder why any girl would :D) and even if, its what I want to do.

Sounds like you're pretty determined to go that route.

yeah thats why my fallback is infantry. im going that way either way, but sniper school is my goal from then on. i believe they all go to a specific sniper scool. units have their "schools" but you dont get a tab until you go the army sniper school

I hate to break your heart but there is no "Army Sniper Tab".

really, cuz Im looking at a Sniper tab right now and you get a Sniper tab while in the Army after completing the Army Sniper School

Marines, theres a reason they have more time on the range than any other branch in the military
so far Marines seems to be the universal answer for which Sniper training is better

Army, I think you will have a better chance.
God save us everyone will be burning inside the fires of a thousand suns.
look at the benefits of both if you do not get selected for sniper school. there is an old addage that many of my military friends agree with: "the Army: better equipped, while Marines are better trained." Like i said earlier, look into both branches equally, and look at them from a none sniper point of view.
