so i am pretty fu*king angry right now
so, my xbox red-ringed the one with the three rings right so i sent it in for repairs and all was fine and dandy. then about 2 weeks later the day finally came, it was delivered today and i was splooging in my pants(please excuse my language) i was all excited, pulled out my S-blade opened that baby up and saw a note on my xbox that was neatly packaged and i thought it was gonna be one of those "sorry for the inconvinience" notes from microsoft but no. it wasnt this note said that they are sorry but my xbox could not be repaired due too...(list of usual reasons ie:act of god) and i was pretty angry but thought maybe the previous owner messed with the insides so i took the xbox out of the packaging and i saw to my horror....the chrome front disk tray face plate had been removed, and the flap where you plug in controllers was also ripped off and when i plugged it in and turned it on there was now 4 red things instead of 3 like when i shipped it in. and i also noticed there was something rattling inside.

Look at the bright side though, you may end up with a brand new xbox instead of a refurbed one.

Thats FUBAR, I guess Microsoft thinks of most of their paying customers as being stupid enough to agree with tech support when they say its your fault. I admit you handled the situation better then I would've, I.E a raging fire would have ensued after I got off them phone with them.
I would go with the "damaged in shipping" route. I delieved enough plain white boxes from microsoft to know UPS ships them. UPS will almost always rule it was the shippers fault for packing it badly and not there fault. So if you or microsoft claim it was damaged in shipping then UPS will find the shipper (microsoft) didn't pack it right and is at fault. Hopfully then they will replace it.

Look its a bird its a plane, no its just my broken aeg flying all over the place.
The four red lights signals that the a.v. cable cluster is not pluged into the box. You may have not pluged in the cables because you just wanted to see if the three red lights error was still there. If things don't work out with Bill, you might want to look into fixing the box yourself. I have fixed two of them with this error so far, and they have both been working well for a year.

You know what I never understood is how xbox users are totally OK with sending in their xbox to get someone elses' refurbished xbox in return. Or why is it even OK to get a refurbished xbox for what is public fact known shipping defect. Any other company would've given their customers a brand new one in exchange as good faith and customer service.

He meant instant gratification in the meaning that society has compromised on the meaning of "a hard earned dollar" in order to satiate their personal desires as soon as possible. Furthermore, it's been Microsoft's corporate mantra to get it out to the market first and deal with problems later. Consumers again bought into it and now believe it's the norm with everything in society.
