sorry to hear that... thats why i got a ps3 as well... also, i got mine for $250 new, pretty sweet deal, friend bought it and never played and wanted a new bike. lucky me, good news is i heard they have solved the problem of the red rings, but the fix is only in the new 360's...

The question is how do you know you're getting the latest revision? I mean this is Microsoft we're talking about. They never did any form of massive recall of unsold inventory. They never mentioned after which date the problems are solved. Nor have they told any retailers how to tell either. So the RROD problem will continue despite what you all want to say or think.

yea thats true. you just have to look on the box though, there should be some kind of date or ask when the next shipment is and buy it straight off the truck. iono, just a suggestion

Even after they've said they fixed the problem. New units are still getting the RROD. While it's not as frequent it's still happening. Now if this problem is supposedly fixed through warranty then why are people doing it multiple times? It doesn't add up. I mean if it's fixed the first time there shouldn't be a second or third unless of course it was never fixed in the first place.

Do a Wiki search for RRoD problems. Somewhere near the bottom it describes how to tell if the unit is one of the newer ones, something like reading the power specs label on the unit itself.

I had that problem... happened right before finals week in december, I was pissed with no outlet to take myself away from studying. So I bought a new one from best buy, shipped my old one to Microsoft on their dime. Returned the new one before I went to Colorado for my birthday and my fixed old one was waiting for me when I got back. Wasn't a refurbished one (though after reading this thread maybe I should double check the serial). Fixed xbox is working fine and they didn't even realize I used a Nyco intercooler (one of the warranty voiding accessories because it "causes RROD"). I can currently be found pwning noobs or getting my ass pwned by people who have no life most days of the week after 1300.

Didn't I read you said they took pictures before they opened it? Ask for copies. Call Kurtis might be the way to go though... he seems to get sh!t done.

start recording the calls. Maybe say you're thinking about getting a lawyer because you keep getting conflicting answers and they are lying to you. More than likely some tech fuxored up and wrote it down on the report as your fault. Never underestimate the determination of Joe to cover his own butt

do you have a computer or a hand held recorder? That will do it. Put the phone on speaker and place the recording device next to it. Voila... recorded phone call.

By any chance did your video and audio output start 'blanking out' before you got the RRoD? Because every so often or so my TV will go black, no audio from the game and it will display my current input selection in the upper corner and then the game will come back on.
