Hey....... i used to play with you guys and be an active member a while back. I was just wondering if anyone could answer my question.... about motorcyles. I have to report into Vogelweh AFB, Germany by June 30th and i have always been looking into buying a bike. Its pretty much always been the R1, but now that i know im going to be in Germany i was thinking of getting the Ducati 998 since it should be cheaper over there. My question is, how much cheaper would a Ducati be over there then here? I cant seem to find any information about how much they cost over there. Thanks for your time

Have you ever ridden a motorcycle? Especially a 1000cc? It will be way more expensive in Europe being that it will be in Euro + all there taxes and such.
You just got killed by a Daewoo Lanos...How You like me now?

I think with the value of the dollar against the Euro that the cost will be nearly identical. One thing to consider though is that European versions aren't necessarily US street legal.

I have ridden motorcycles before.... ridden dirtbikes for a long time now. Just never had one myself. Im thinking of when i graduate here at my tech school just to go and pickup and new R1 when come home for RAP (recruiters assistance program.) Ah, i almost forgot... at every base they have parking lots filled with cars and bikes for sale for cheap b/c ppl are either getting deployed or are getting stationed somewhere else and have to sell their car fast.. I might just go with that route

It used to be apart of Ramstein, but they made it a separate entity. Kinda like here at Lackland AFB, Medina AFB is right outside the gates.

When i make my trip to Germany, im allowed to take a vehicle with me (they pay for it.) So there would be no cost of shipping. The cost of insurance in Europe for younger drivers isnt nearly as severe as it is in the states (Im 19) but then again they have higher taxes and such like you said. I think maybe checking out the lemon lots ( not as in a bad vehicle thats just what they call all the vehicles that ppl sell for cheap when getting deployed and stuff) in Ramstein and Vogelweh. I know i saw some awesome deals on an R1 when i was at Travis AFB.

thats awesome... My training here is ridiculously easy here. But still we have people fuckin up all the time its rediculous. My plan was to be in the AF for 4 years, get K9 and a bachelors in criminal justice. Then come back and do K9 Sherrifs. But with the way the economy is going.... im not sure about the whole K9 Sherrifs thing anymore. Im thinking once i get into the operational air force i will realize if i want to stay or not and if i decide to stay ive been thinking alot of CCT (Combat Controller.) I would be a PJ but everyone (well most everyone) who falls out of there training does so during the water stuff. And ive never been a great swimmer so CCT seems legit to me. To tell you the truth it seems a bit too easy just in general here. I came out of basic with honor grad (top 10% of graduates, but they didnt even have ten % it was top 7%). And I am killing the tests here. The physical stuff is almost a joke. I want more of a challenge. I swear i would not trust my back to half the ppl on my team.
