Finally got one today! Well, in 10 days  Walked into our local gun shop (Danielle was shopping for her .22) and there were two garands there! Everytime I've wanted to get one something has come up so today I finally just desided to do it. I'm pretty happy right now.

It feels good doesnt it? Is it an early war garand? or a late war? or post war? HOws the finish on the wood?
Watch that thumb.

Lol I had my first "thumb" and it will never happen again...dang that hurt
Don't know enough about the differences to know if it's early/late/post war. It's a springfield (I know that only springfield and winchester made them during ww2). The finish on the wood is pretty good. I liked the other one they had better. The finish was nicer and darker but had some rust on the slide. The one I got the important parts were nicer, the wood isn't bad but I might restain it darker once I get it. Just playing with it today in the shop I can see how your thumb could be eaten pretty easy.

Ha ha, just scared the poo out of some poor sales men. I walked out the front door to take these pictures just as he was driving up... made me laugh a little.

If you give to a charity please think of giving to one of these two charities. The Naval Special Warfare Foundation or Navy SEAL Warrior Fund.
