well i join the Navy and couldn't wait to finish my 4 years. I worked along side with the Marines and some of them like it and others wanted to get out. There is a lot of BS you have to put up with in the armed forces in every branch. It is up to you with you want to do as in a job. The mech Marines I work with told me that the most infantry Marines are kinda brainwash but that is just what I heard. I have a friend in Iraq now and he seems fine to me. LOL. But yea pick a job that you will enjoy doing because if you don't you going to hit everyday for the next 4 years. Remember to sign up for a G.I. but I'm not sure how that is anymore because they just changed it. It used to be pay $1200 and get about 46k for school. Last thing is you control how everyday turns out for you. If you going to have the attitude that it is gonna suck every day you gonna hate the years to come. And for you pay for E-1 I think its gonna be 1600-1800 a month. but if your Marriage and you live in Sac it will be around maybe 3000 a month because Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH) but that is just some extra information. Hope this helps.

I joined the army in 2005, but never graduated boot. Got injured and to be honest at the time it wasn't where I needed to be. Although now 4 years later, I'd love to go into the Guard, alas I'm still recoverying from knee surgery and still can't run very well due to it. There are other guys on here who can give you much better information and I'm sure they will chime in soon enough, but I'll tell you sometimes waiting a little bit doesn't hurt and the military will still be there in a few years.

So I have decided not to join and I'm going to tell the recruiter to cancel my asvab test. Thank you all for your input :-)

im going to be joining the delayed entry program here in about a week and the first thing i want you to do is stop and think about this. before you decide not too for other peoples reasons, look within yourself and decide the benifits and why YOU want to or even thought about joining. dont just make up your mind. it also doesnt hurt to look at other branches.

I just decided that I'm not ready to make a 5 year comitment. I don't want to get through it all and realize it's not what I wanted. I'm 22 years old and I just feel that if I was going to join I would have back when I got out of high school. I'm following my instincts you know?
