G&G UMG Broken?
Hey guys, Just to let everyone know I MISS airsofting with you all! Recently (after the benefit game at Ukau's in Feb.) My gun apparently took a dump... I'd love to get back into it... but Money is tight as I start a new job, and I would either have to fix my gun or borrow one from someone...
Sounds like a stripped gear/piston where something jammed in between a gear/piston tooth.
sounds like the piston is locked all the way back and needs to just be released. Pull the grip off and trip the anti-reverse latch until the piston is all the way forward then hook it up to a bat. and see if she fires.
take down review. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUGJo4Bb7xQ
Ah cool thank you guys! I'll dig into it after work today and hopefully be back out with you guys A.S.A.P.
Allright guys... got at this thing before i had to go to work so i couldnt post a quick update for ya. After dismantling my gearbox successfully I noticed NO apparent stripping of gears, foreign objects, rusting, grime-buildup, other apparent broken pieces... HOWEVER... After successfully cleaning the overgreased internals, and re-greasing... I noticed several things...
An anti-reversal latch only works with a spring. If you lost it aex sells them for a few $.
Ah yea there is/was no spring for the anti-reversal latch apparently... Opened the gearbox delicately, and nothing exploded apart... there were no loose/broken peices of spring or anything else inside... I cant find it worth a damn anywhere inside the gearbox/jammed in something or even on my work-bench so... I'm wondering if somehow it made it into the body of my gun or managed to vanish itself?
I wrote a review of the G&G UMG years back.
Thanks Snoopy, i'll check it out.
So I did it! Turns out that there was in-fact a anti-reversal latch spring... It had been with the complete disassembled gearbox on a rag, and displayed but... apparently my dog walked through the area... and picked it up with the bottom of her foot :(/ Got that out, she's fine. Got her some antibiotics etc... Gearbox is completely and 100% correctly assembled (as per many attempts and epiphanies) however... It's still doing the same thing... When the batteries hooked up I pull the trigger... and that engageing click happens... followed by nothing. So... looks like I'm taking it in to AEX in a few minutes... I'm starting to believe there might be short or something with the electricals... because the gearbox looks fairly good... Maybe the battery? Who knows... Thanks for all your help guys.
If the piston isn't being pulled back at all before the "click" sound, you might have a burnt out motor.
dide you check if the motor even work? it could be and old and worn out motor, its happened to me
Thanks to everyone that helped, got it all figured out and working properly now. Cant wait to get out there on the field with ya'll again.

sounds like the motor might be hooked up backwards?
Lol nope... Aside from a bit of grime the internals were in great condition... It was unworthy batteries.
Same thing was wrong with my M4. I thought it was messed up and I took it to AEX and it worked and I was pissed.
Yea for real huh. The same day i decided to go I'm talking to myself like "this almost seems like an electrical thing... I wonder if its shorting or if these batteries are just fried"... Sure nuff, I walk through the door and we plug my gearbox into a battery outlet and bang, there she blows... I felt like a total jackass lol.
