American GI vs Russian Spetsnaz

May 6, 2009 6:22am
On Tuesday Deadliest warrior is pitting the Russian Spetznas vs. American GIs. The show tries to show what might happen if two warriors went at it in a fight to the death. They've done Knight vs Pirate, Ninja vs Spartan, Samurai vs Vikings, and Mafia vs Yakuza.

Gotta admit the show is pretty stupid... but it occasionally has an interesting weapon on...

Liked the Spartan Vs Ninja one, but hated the Knight vs Pirate one. Seriously? Pirate beats Knight? I dont freaking think so. Blunderbuss= Cheating stick. How many freaking pirates had those on hand?

This show is a complete piece of shit in terms of historical accuracy but pretty entertaining.

I think that Rambo vs. Spetsnaz would be a lot more interesting.

Apache warrior v. Gladiator was entertaining, if completely skewed from the point of tactics.

There were many diffrent forms of gladiators, each was very specificly equiped to beat only one kind of foe. Certian types of gladiators would always fight certrain other types, the pairing usualy revoled around a story line or just pairings that made for the best show. Only in the most backassed hick province of the empire would you have seen underfeed slaves thrown a random pile of shit and told to fight. some types would have done better.....some of them worse agaisnt the indian.

I thought knight vs pirate was shit. In a real fight, a knight would have decimated an unarmored opponent. I don't care how many flintlock pistols he had

Spetsnaz would be victorious 8 out of 10 times. The ONE thing that the Spetsnaz have over ANY of their closest counterparts are their abilities to endure pain and suffering the accomplish their mission. The Spetsnaz also have THE highest death rate due to training accidents and pushing candidates too far. It's one true way of weeding out the weak and making certain the men that are deemed "Spetsnaz" are truly THE best of the best and are able to take whatever mother nature, enemy or whatever life throws against them and smile.

"Knights" didnt use pole arms(halberd) or missle weapons(crossbow) and wheres the lance?

Armour became much less prevalent over time. The last hardcore heavy cav units were the French Cuirassiers and Polish Winged Hussars, both hung on until 1815.

lol thats why hollywood rocks man FICTION RULES :) no but really i enjoy talking about history and i love the history channel in general but people in general need to realize the stuff we see on tv, even the historics, are from a point of view and made be scewed or hollywoodised (is that a word heh) :)

Not to mention the knight would have no dexterity bonus because of the armor. Plus the pirate may have Improved Dodge. I dunno did any of the weapons have enchants?

Real armour in period was made of tempered steel. This allowed it to be made thin, strong and light. There is VERY little restriction of movement in a real suit of armour. The sad thing is most of the surviving stuff we have is A. Parade armour or B Victorian era forgeries made of bulky mild steel.
