You will not excel very much if your not fit, if you just sit at home and play games, your going to have a hard time. Boot camp is 3months are you ready to spend those three months?
Dont forget to sneak into the DS's office and take a picture with his Round on. If you show it to him after you graduate you get a 3 day pass. Just hide it in your wall locker till then, its safe there.

Better yet diregard most of the above. Marine boot is going to be hell. like wise army basic is not as bad but damn close (at least if you go into a combat MOS). Either way enjoy your summer, but start preparing your self for Boot/Basic about 3 months ahead of time. You wanna be able to do push ups, sit ups/crunches, pull ups, and be able to handle 5 mile runs like they're nothing (it'll get worse), practice for road marches (put some weights in a back pack and go for a 5 mile walk). JROTC in high schools helps prepare you for the rank structure, drill(very important), and how to wear the uniform. if you want to be an officer then ROTC in college is the way to go.
You also may want to consider the Guard or the reserves and get a feel for it before you commit yourself full time. The ultimate choice is up to you. you sound pretty dead set on the corps, but if your serious about SF you may want to consider army. Marine recon will send you to mostly army school's any way, and there arn't as many options in recon.

Its getting harder to do any kind of transfer like that. We are starting to push out 20 year people. Its just not a good time to be in the over staffed guard. I didn't even get a bonus for my reenlistment. Just Air Assault. Go Active first. You might as well get the whole experience first, and get out of town for a few years, and then see what you want to do from there. But for christ sake, be a sixteen year old kid first. You wont get it back and you'll wish you did.
