There has been a previous case like this. It will be overturned in the Supreme Court and he will be allowed to practice his alternative medicine.

As an adult, so long as you're mentally fit (aka know what you're doing and the consequences) you have the right to refuse medical treatment at any time. Legally, you cannot be forced to endure a medical treatment (this does not include psychiatric care eg a danger to oneself or society). So you're good on that part.

Hum, to be honest I didn't catch the "can not read" part when I read it.

I believe we have a fundamental obligation to protect innocent life.........whether its a fetus or a brainwashed little boy. Being a parent I can tell you these people would have to be fucking nuts beyond all doubt to put the life of their child after religious fervor.

I can see the courts involvement as necessary. If a child is abused sexually, but likes it is it still illegal and wrong? Yes. In a way this can be viewed as child abuse. The kid is a minor and while we live in a country where we're free and have freedom of religion you are still required as a parent to be responsible for the childs welfare. Several doctors are saying the kids cancer is aggressive and needs to be treated. It's not like cancer is a new disease and the doctors don't know what they're talking about.

I am not defending the parents at all. They are idoits. And pretty much going to end up killing there child. And that is horible. Like I said, had this been a 3,4,5 year old kid, this would have been totally differant to me. It was the fact that he is a 13 year old kid and should have been able to make a choice about his treatment....

In my religion, when a child turns thirteen, we tie a very tight wire around his neck. We don't kill him -- the wire slowly strangles him and it's up to the alien god on the planet Xarxix to determine whether or not the child gets completely strangulated.
Gun control is not Crime control.

as far as religion goes, she is catholic and the "natural healing" that she is using IS NOT part of her religion. It is something one guy created and has been arrested for fraud on. While she is saying it is religious its not, and even her church DOES NOT support what she is doing....

Let's not forget our brains are not fully developed until age 25. Therefore half of our opinions shouldn't count, haha. Just thought I'd be a jerk because it's fun. 8)

Let them be. I don't understand why this is such a big deal. It's true, minors do not have many legal rights until they are 18. Still, they could go out and petition for some of their rights, and gain support. ie. if the kid ran out and said he needed chemo or else he'd die kinda deal.

For all you people who want to save this child from himself, and his parrents, by interceeding with court mandated treatment, consider this:
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.

I am still going back on forth on this. I HATE the idea of what these idiots are doing to this kid. I DO NOT believe in "alternative medicine" at all. I think it's a bunch of BULL. Normally a mix of placebo effect and the body's amazing ability to heal it's self makes people think the herbs and grass and whatnot they are eating has fixed them. Danielle's example... cancer can go into remission on it's own. Happens all the time. It's not because of any life style changes or "alternative medicine". Basicly, if it worked... it wouldn't be alternative anymore. It would become mainstream.

im still concerned with the fact that a judge and a doctor teamed up and forced a very tramatizing process on a child. This woman was denied her right to a 2nd opinion she was denied her right to try less evasive and harmfull treatments, yes even medical ones, that are avaible. That would be like a judge and a doctor telling you to cut off your am instead of a cast when its broken and not allowing you to make a choice. I find it very odd this woman was not even allowed to see another doctor or try any other treaments, even my wife whos cancer is treated by surgery neaerly everytime was offered a choice, why is she being forced to choose just one.

Werewolf, you don't have to grow a <POTENTIAL> person inside you for 9 months, and when it pops out it doesn't wreak havoc on your sex organs.

Still dont have to like it that I would have absolutely have no say even though it takes two to tango. But when it comes to child support its YOUR child and YOU need to pay that ungodly amount just to see them on weekends.

However this is not to say that I think that abortion should be illegal. I am morally opposed to it, but then people should have the right to do what they will (within reason) and I wouldn't consider it for my future spouse unless there was health concerns.
