stripping metal peices?
i just got a g23f from aex and i think it has he metal slide on it but as always i want o get rid of he orange pain on the end.
i was thinkin you can sand it with very fine grit paper. like 12000 microns or something.
steel wool and a tired arm.
forget sand paper, and steel wool....
im thinkin acitone righ now too but ive heard of using oven cleaner on metal parts too ill probably ry one of those and ill make sure to dissasemble everything off the slide that isnt metal including he sights and stuff and then ill try and post before and after pics.
Different companys use different paint products on their slides. Some paint will come off with nail polish remover. This is the best thing to try since it is least hard on the finish of your slide. If that doesn't work you have to resort to harsher chemicals.
laquer thinner works great. don't use paint thinner, it will eat plastic. don't use heavy doses of laquer thinner either, will dull some plastics. put some on a towel and a little elbow grease.
thx for the tip i almost started sounding it down today but id like to find a chemical way since it would seem to mess with the metal less(no scratching it up) less as long as i don leave it on for too long
jasco paint remover on metal only!!! the chemical will bubble the paint and just wipe off with a rag that you will not keep.
^^wow that sounds like nasty powerfull stuff
you can also use gun scrub, only use on mettle

Anyone consider using a lighter and trying to melt it off?
No, and for a damn good reason.

well, a good way to get it off is nail pollish i used on my gun to get the red paint off about 2 days ago. It works fine but you have to scrub it a little bit, but it will certainly come off.
try goof off it seems to work for me.
