CQB with a longer rifle?
Do any of you guys use longer rifles (such as an M16, AUG, or AK47) at the CQB games? I really enjoy CQB, but, unfortunately, the only AEG I have right now is a TM AK47 (wood kit actually extended the stock a couple inches more. Would a long rifle like this be at a great disadvantage in a CQB game? Should I just stick with non-CQB games? :?

i have run with a G36 with the K stock and K front end. was not that hard. you just have to work with it alot to get it down. really i think that its not in the gun its in the person behind it.
my friend uses a m16 a1 for cqb it works just fine.
All i have to say is personal preferance and player skill.
Thx guys, I think I'll try my luck at a CQB game with my AK...hopefully I can get some of my friends to come, too.

So long as it isn't shooting too hot you should be fine.

Lol, no need to worry about that...my AK is internally completely stock...

I used to play yuba CQB with a Marushin 98k, Worked well
Most CQB games that I know of have a 350 fps and below limit. If it's really really close quarters, I would have to say pistols only.

Hey if all else fails, try shooting from the hip!
Operational is when you get reports of gunfire in the area.
yeah, even tho i dont agree, it is 350 fps rule, and some places also allow grenades, which come with that is the area spread rule...if a bb ricochetes off the wall/come close to hitting u, u are out...but that rule might be dead in some places u go(adventure zone)...but yeah, i still dont care about the fps law at a CQB field, i got shot yesterday morning at the lockin at AZ and it was 350 fps gun with .2's....and the funny part, it was not even a foot away...and as i guessed it, it hurt for a while, left a welt...but i still think it should be 400 and down...hey, we could use .25's if it was like that...

   omfg! sorry guys i'm laughing here. i gotta agree on all parts, from the personal preferance to the fps issue, but omg, neo, a MOVIE! okay, give me a hard time about my el cheapo  . yeah we (army) have done cqb with long rifles, but it's usually the mp's or some poor old reserve or guard unit that hasn't been upgraded to m4's yet. honestly, all of my military cqb's have been with an m4 varient or mp-5's, same with my civilian job. i think with airsoft, if all i had was a long rifle and sidearm, i'd take the sidearm.
What?! I seem to do ok with a LOOOOONG rifle for CQB.

It was fun all, but I really wish I had something like a P90 or UZI instead of my medium length M15. It worked good for hallways, but it was really a piece of work to manuver quickly around corners. You could use your AK fine, it just wont be as effective as if you had a "shorty". -John

I dont think a longer rifle will matter in a CQB game, if your not going down hallways or stacked up with other players. The thing with a shorter rifle is with one you get a shorter target aquisition time, I mean you can more easily zreo your weapon on a target in less time if your weapon is shorter. If you are planning on playing CQB religiously I would suggest getting a foldable stock for your AK but if not dont worry about it. A shorter weapon is always good in a CQB, but its not madatory, and if quarters get too tight for your AK use your side arm if you have one.

If I had a choice of what to take in CQB it would be either an M468 with a powerful light and laser or an M60E4 with a surfire taped to it with 90mph tape.

CQB with long rifle...aha. Here what I do (my personal manual) :
