wait wasnt the mp40 not disigned by schmeisser, wasnt that a inteligence misstake but they just called it that?

The mp 40 was made under contract by 4 or so contractors. it was based on the mp28 with the full wood stock being dropped in favor of a wire folding stock and a Bakelite lower reciever (the bakelite was a shell that went over a stamped metal houseing) in the mp 38. the Mp 38 had a real nice Fluted Reciver tube and had son nice machineing work that was dropped in the final version the mp40.... In the east (russia) the germans tossed their mp40s for ppsh41s because of their 71rnd drum and the fact that the ppsh41 was a better designed SMG for closecombat.
