Ok, quick update, I have purchased a TM M4 SOPMOD, and will shortly be ordering a Pantac RAV and TM P226.

Since the HK417 is a 7.62 NATO with a larger receiver than the HK416, wouldn't you have to start with something like a SR-25?

Well, I opted to make my M4 a C8 Diemaco, otherwise known as an L119a1. The SAS call them SFW's and they are modified M4's. Longer barrel, different triangle sight, carrying handle, etc. To cover up the would be trades on a Diemaco I am using a ReadyMag. Basically, the project is going to last me the next year as I amass my equipment.

Oh, it's not mine! That is what mine will eventually look like. That's an L119a1 barrel by Pro Arms, unfortunately they seem to be out of stock on just about every site. you might be out of luck on the outer barrel,I don't think the WA barrel will work, might have to be a custom job.

I think I will get a 10" barrel and a QD suppressor, thus creating a CQB variant, which the SAS do use for room clearing and the like (There are loads of pictures of them doing so).
