Woodland American Legion 9/12/2009
Raiders, I'd like to take the time to extend an invitation to come out to the American Legion Post in Woodland on 9/12/2009 for an open house celebrating it's 90th anniversary. Hopefully the Marine Corps Historical Association will be able to show up and take part also, but the Marine Recon Re-enactors Clup will be there. We'll be setting up a booth and hopefully a CP tent complete with cots/lockers etc. I'm also bringing out my Raiders impression kit and would like to have some others out there also. If you're interested, please contact me at: swatdoc06@yahoo.com and I'll forward information as it comes out. As of right now, there's a FREE breakfast for participants and it begins at 0700. Hope to hear from you all. AARRUUUGGGAAAHHH
For sure I'll think about it! My USMC impression isn't that great yet, but I'd be interested for sure.

not a problem. from the pics i've seen of you guys, you look really good, like all of us, there's little things that need to be worked on. for example, i don't think anyone well, maybe Tobin, has the correct boot!! lol the only other thing, and this sucks, but since it's a 'time period' correct thing, i don't know how the 'vets' there may take to a young lady dressed up, or, hey, just put the hair up in the helmet!!! LOL I sent Tobin an email in regards to this too. send me an email, and I'll forward all the info to you. If you can make it, the more the merrier!!!!
To be honest, I can't see her being interested in this at all anyway. She's more into the shooting boys with toys guns then the dress up part!

Getting closer to the date. Again, if anyone is seriously interested in showing up for this send me an email at: swatdoc06@yahoo.com. I met the lady who's one of the coordinators for the event last night at the Yolo County Fair, sounds like there's going to be quite a bit going on, they have some civil war guys (go figure) out there doing thier thing, some other WW2 European Theater guys, some vehicles, a weapons displyay and then the guard will be doing some kind of a modern display. As far as I know, the 'Nam guys, we're set up in the American Legion Hall, where the food and beer is!!!! Let me know please so that they can have the correct amount of chow for breakfast.
My thanks to Ryan, Jerry and Spencer for showing up today. Great meeting you guys!! You guys are awesome! Too bad we didn't have as big of a turn out that we expected, but we met some really nice people and watched one helluva tennis serve!!! LOL Anytime guys, anytime.

60% of the time it works, every time.
Well, Dan, from the American Legion said that there's a nice little write up about all of us and that there's a pic of the gear. Not sure if it was the Raiders' gear or the Recon guys, doesn't matter. Hopefully it will gain more interest. I'll keep track of other upcoming events and let you guys know. I know there's the usual veteran day parades, I know Marysville does one, if you guys want to participate, Raiders in front Recon bringing up the rear, time line type of thing????
It's a big maybe for me on Veteran's day... Work get super crazy Nov-Dec. I'd like to though, keep us informed.

I'm actually thinking of doing the RM impression. Can't get the old lady involved though. :(
