PHOTO EDIT WHORES UNITE
You can try sharpening and bluring in photoshop, but other than that there isn't much I can think of. If you want to avoid grain, keep the Iso lower and lighten the photos in a program like photoshop. Also, do your best to avoid using that zoom feature. Doesn't look like you did here, but it's somthing important to remember.

I'm happy with how the top one of the train going by came out..I just couldn't get the fstop low enough because its not a DSLR, just a point and shoot with manual mode so the shutter speed and aperture size are linked
Yea, that is one thing I really don't like about point and shoot cameras. I bought a Canon a while ago on a friends recomendation. It that had so few options for the photo I got pissed and sent it back. Saving for a Digital SLR now.

rcas: where were those pictures taken?
You could always just lower the iso and lower the shutter speed if you want focused shots. All really depends on what equipment you're using.

Pictures were taken from a friends balcony downtown San Diego...I was just playing around with the camera that night, and my gorilla pod. I had a slow shutter speed on purpose so that it blurred. The high ISO was the only way it didn't come out all dark.
If you ever decide to upgrade from your Sony and get a dslr I recommend going with Nikon. Unique shots none the less, thanks for sharing.

HAHA, and those are the ones that came out really nicely. Would have been better if I had a tripod. Freehand was tough.
No tripod? Serious kudos man.

All about breathing and button/trigger control. Seriously, learning how to shoot a firearm well took my photography levels up a lot.
