RIP. Lost a great man today in the world of music...

its a rare case where I would qualify someone who died from a drug OD a great man... this is not one of those cases. Tragic perhaps but a great man I don't think so. There have been enough celebrity deaths in the past decade or so (some that come quickly to mind: chris farley, heath ledger, MJ even tho he touched little kids in more than one way) for other celebrities to be aware that DRUGS ARE BAD MMMKAY? I find it utterly idiotic that these rich folk still OD on drugs. Learn from your friends/peers/whoever's mistakes already.

WHo is he? No seriously like what has he done for lets say society? I was never a huge fan of Ted Kenedy but he did things. This guy, seriously...I have never heard of him. I have no clue as to what he has done. Im assuming something with music, most likley techno...or hiphop. Seeing as he is a DJ he was over paid, under worked and never made anything truly original.

ok, firstly, it only happened about 5 hours ago. Nobody's SURE it was an OD. He was a great man in the world of DJ's. He was very good at what he did, and lived a successful and somewhat blessed life (surviving a plane crash). For that he is a great man in music and in my view of him... but I am in no way saying he is a great man for throwing his life away if that's the case. Look at elvis... do you all not consider him a great man? even though he died of an OD? [/i]

Lol wow ok for 1 I never said he was a bad man just that I didn't consider him a great man. 2 unless I'm mistaken no one died in that crash, he put out the flames on Travis barker. I'm not even gonna comment on knowing people who died or were killed or even seeing someone die. Chris farley, I'd call him a great man... Addicted to drugs and booz but he did selfless things for children much in the same way that his character in black sheep did. MJ may have been killed but it wasn't murder, the dr had nothing to gain from his death so I'm sure it must have been negligence rather than premeditation. And no ones gonna convince me that he didn't do inappropriate things to sick kids. Just cuz there wasn't enough evidence doesn't mean anything

Then I stand corrected, the thing I read yesterday didn't mention anyone aside from those two in the plane.

apparently DJ AM was a very selfless person. earlier in his life he was an addict but became sober and stayed that way up until the crash. The reason he was on drugs was because of post traumatic stress disorder and got prescribed the drugs by a doctor he got addicted to them because he already had an addictive personality.

lol I'm still in this thread for the entertainment value i'm getting from this :) Still waiting for a link to how he was a giving person. I quoted arnie because he's right... a DJ rarely makes his own "music" unless he's in a group (beastie boys for example with Mix Master Mike, or when DJ AM was in Crazytown but hes more known for spinning in clubs AFAIK). Arnie isn't retarded tho hes just a blunt conservative asshole, hes no genius but he has valid points at times. I'm guessing you're not a conservative which would be a good reason to dislike him :). Dawn on the other hand is retarded with her huddle and cuddle mentality that everything has to be honkey dory and fair (though today I actually agreed with her about sex offenders and their rights).
