Auburn fire
Auburn is burning right now. They said 500 to 700 acres right in the middle of Auburn. 49 and Bell Road, basicly in the middle of the city. . A sub division and trailer park have also burned. The picures on the news are really crazy.... these are all places I drive past every day and shop at. It looks like there is a TON of damage. Scary stuff.

The fire got to within half a mile of my house. It was a couple hundred feet away from three gas stations. We got a voluntary evacuation notice around three thirty and a mandatory evacuation notice about an hour after that.

God save us everyone will be burning inside the fires of a thousand suns.
One of the black belts I study with, she and her husband had a house on Creekside Place so there is a 95% chance it's totally gone. I doubt they had time to get much of anything out, including their pets.

My Aunt tried to go get my grandma, who lives on highway 49, she wasn't let through, fortunetly my grandma was well enough to drive the short distance out, Hasn't been let back to her house becuase part of it was burned. Firefighters managed to get it out before it was a total loss. My thanks to the firefighters for their hard work, and my prayers go out to anyone who needs them.

Went up there today to drop off about 10 cases of bottled water at the Red Cross Relief station and saw the charred terrain from Hwy 49, it's just amazing how much burned in so little time.

My hearts go out to your friends Spock. I still can't believe how utterly devastated that part of Auburn is. I mean, it was only 275 acres of land, but right in the center of a suburban area.
Driving through Auburn yesterday I was amazed at how good a job the firefighters did at saving things. There are so many buildings that the fire burned right up to, but were saved. Those guys has a very tough job and they did an amazing job Sunday and monday. It could have been SO much worse then it was.

Went up to my grandmas, Damage wasn't nearly as bad as we thought. But she's almost 2 miles from the main of it. Shows how dangerous a bit of wind and an ember can be. We went by the harley store, a family friend works there. The building is completely gone, they were able to save 18 bikes, and the priceless old hammerhead that they've had on display.

There is a live feed of the station fire on KCRA at the moment, the copter can't get high enough for the camera to show the whole fire. This thing is massive.

Fire season is starting late this year. caught everyone off guard
We're actualy right in the middle. September october and even november are big fire months. Cloud coverage without much rain, lightning starts most wildfires.

I had suspected they thought it was arson for a while... they were out there with little evidice yellow flags for weeks after the fire... it just seemed like that's what they were thinking. This is the first I've heard for sure though. People are really F'ed up sometimes.

Remeber all those huge fires that were a result of arson in LA a few years back? It turned out to be a fire fighter starting them to make people throw out the idea of getting rid of fire fighting jobs. With all the budget cuts and layoffs recently...
