is it posable to take a gear box from an mp5k and make it a m4 type of set up...

both are version two...but the selector plate is different. so no, not a direct swap is possible. but swap the plate, and its possible.

in addition, the cylinder is very short, and the piston is also shorter i believe...type 0 cylinder......

Nope. Cylinder and piston are same length. You just have a hole very close to the front of the cylinder.

so the closer hole position = less volume?
