Recommended Sniper Rifle.....??

Apr 7, 2005 6:46pm
My Cousin and I have been looking at Sniper Rifles for a few weeks now. He wants one when he gets his bonus and AEX has a really nice custome job in there for around $700 plus.

If you get a chance talk to Shawn (snoopy). I was talking to him last night about the same thing and he reccommended the APS2 - spring rifle. I was originally looking at the CA M24 but he gave me some interesting info.

If you go spring you will have the best consistency in shooting. And from all accounts that I have read, heard, and seen; the APS2 is probably within the top two, if not the best spring gun on the market.

I will stick to my aps2 until the day i die, it is the pimpest gun i own, as far as shooting consistency, quality, durability, and accuracy.

Is the APS2 the one with an ergonomic grip and a squarish foregrip?

I've got a question while we're on the subject, and Da Rock it may help you to: Is there a way to adjust the power level (ie scale down the FPS) on the Tanka M40a **edit**? I understand that gas is affected by weather, and intend to get a spring sniper rifle before winter (APS2 most likely), but for now I wanted something that wouldn't require alot of work. However I don't want a gun that's shooting too hot and not be able scale it back.

Im sorry but the M700 and the M40A1 have caught my eye...there gas consumption is great and nice/sleek design really adds realism. But the APS-2 I have to admit has a whole **** load of upgrades you can do to it, very good starter sniper rifle if you ask me. I would personally go with the M40. :D

don't forget about the vsr-10. it's cheaper than the aps2 sv but has just as many upgrades. supposedly they perform really well.

I would say go with the APS SV (with fixed hopup). I have owned the M700 (green gas), APS2 SV, APS2 EX. All have been good rifles. The M700 with a PCS bolt has great power potential, but lacks consistency because of the green gas. It works best in warm weather, and really sucks when it gets cold. The mags work great, you get roughly 40-50 shots per gas fill, which brings me to the fun part. There isn't a gas release on the mags, so in order to empty them you have to cycle the bolt and pull the trigger repeatedly until all the gas is gone which sucks if there is a lot of gas. The APS2 EX which once upgraded to shoot higher fps has to have the stock hopup chamber upgraded also. I am using the PDI black hopup (recommended by Shawn A.K.A Snoopy) in mine and I am pretty happy with it. Gun shoots right around 500 FPS and shoots pretty straight and fairly consistent with .36 bbs. If you get an APS2 SV it will be more consistent, and you would have to use different weight bbs depending how upgraded it is. If you buy an APS 2, talk to Shawn. He has owned many of them and knows them pretty well.

mauser isnt a sniper rifle... the airsoft scope is 1.5x15mm sucks. after market mounts are some made up modern looking thing. original WWII style mounts are BANK. APS 2 is best perfoming sniper rifle. but i have to tell you(from a good bit of experience) airsoft sniping is nothing like the real deal and a lot of ppl see with a rifle in game and tell me to shoot someones head sticking out 200+ ft out and first thats messed up with a powerful rifle and 2nd a headshot from that far is harder than it seems. but it is still fun dont get me wrong, id stay away from gas guns for sniper rifles tey arent as accurate. (i had 2 tanaka mausers, still got 1 and 2 APS2's still have one) tried others, Id say APS2.

I Rock the APS2 SV....I never had any other sniper riffle's so I can't really comment on how good/bad others are. I can say that the APS2 SV is very consistant.....the only thing is to have the spring rate match the weight of bb you are shooting. 500-550 fps w/ .36's is a pretty good combo and with any wind....load up with .43's and it's hard to beat.

What is the difference between the APS2 SV and the EX?
"I am evil Homer, I am evil Homer!"

The EX has an adjustable hop up and the barrel looks a little different. Snoopy would know.

Good stuff guys, I was reading along because I was thinking about a sniper gun too.

I still remeber the day Chris Perez was trying to load Snoopys gun upgraded with a 300% spring(?). I though he was going to bust a nut.

well if your wanting to spend a little money i would get a super 9. Someone might make fun of you but its a good starter for beginner snipers. Hell im in recon for the Marine Corps and use a real sniper. I think its pretty accurate for the price.
