its something im thinking of trying sometime this summer. i dont know if i want to go with a spring or gas rifle. there is a lot to consider there. i just want consistancy more than spectacular FPS or looks or anything.

Airsoft sniper rifle, I use optics. My real steel bolt action I'm using iron sites.

see, thats where logic tells me *thats backwards*. ya know? not questioning you methods, its just that my thinking says, airsoft with much shorter range, use iron sights

Scopes are good not only because you can shoot with greater precision, but you can indentify the target more easily.

I iron sight my 98k all the time and did the 33/40 like that too. Its fun.

Sniper goal --> one shot one kill. If you're not take target out right on first shot you will get kill (90%). Therefor, depent on target distance, Snipers need help with equipment: high power rifle, silencer, long range scope to complete their task at safe distance. But at close range they have to use open sight for quick observation target moverment.

Haha. I like my ghillie! There are several reasions why I have my stuff "backwards". Most of my real steel is old, WWII and one that is pre WWI. Scopes don't belong on these early beasts. The one gun I do use for plinking does have a scope on it, but it takes more skill to shoot with irons than a scope and I prefer irons to scopes sometimes.
WAR IS PEACE.
