Use to shoot F-class way back. I used AR-15, CMMG lower mated with a cheap DPMS upper with 24" bull bbl with 1:8 twist. Pushed a 80gr Amax pill with 21.2g of AA2460. The barrel liked it more than Varget or RL-15. Shout out to 1200 yards but anything pass 800 was just fun fun fun and wouldn't bet any $ to hit 10x. Lol. But 800 I would!

Haha, 338 lapua is a beast. But, for precision shooting I would go for 6mm cartridge. 6.5 grandel to be exact. Well, at least for me. Haha, besides, less kick to the shoulder. Shooting 80-100 rounds down range within a few hours of 338 lapua will be a sore week after. Haha.

muzzle brakes do wonders now days though. My 308 with that big chubby is seriously like shooting an ar15. I hear the brakes on even affordable .338LM, like the savage 110BA, makes it feel like a .308

Hahaa, so true. But if your shoot competition, most don't let you use MB. If your shooting for enjoyment, MB all the way! Haha. Love the muzzle blast too.
