From my understanding, autos are for LE and military only. That's not to say that you couldn't possibly get your hands on one but there are plenty of other fast knives out there.

Question is... new or used? Too bad you didn't talk to me a few weeks ago when I was selling two. Sold the Infidel and kept my 9500 for EDC. New you can get the Mini Rukus from SKD tac but you have to email, fax, or mail a copy of your ID (name has to match the order IIRC). They used to carry a bunch of models but not for a while now. You can register on benchmade's website as Public Safety and upload a copy of your ID and order direct from them. My first I got used from a guy on Arnie's who slipped through their forum rules by only posting the model number. Other companies sell them as well but I can't remember any more right now. Try google ;). Blade Forums has a section just for auto's too, but a lot of the knives on there aren't that great a deal for used ones. Honestly though, you're going to pay more just because its an Auto. You're paying for cool factor and exclusivity since they're near impossible to get in CA. Unless you're a sky diver or on jump status in the military and you have to cut away your chute you're never gong to NEED and auto. I've actually been turned on to Microtech lately, they make great auto's but they're much more expensive than benchmade.

I have a Benchmade auto, totally legit, but Rcas has a point on the cool factor. In comparison to some assisted opens, there isn't all that much of a difference in the timing, it's more the accessibility of a thumb button versus an index assist. This in itself only furthers the idiocy of the state in which we reside.

ROFL @ Benchmade...what has benchmade done? cool flipy fast knives that cost you an arm, leg and a kidney?! pussy is wat that knife is and has to offer. IF you can be a real man, and WANT to be a real man, there is only one and i say it with all the confidence in the world ONE knife that only few can carry, not because of law's or restrictions, but because....i know give you...

and if you must have assisted the CRKT m16 is an excellent knife and with about five minutes and some spare bits you have a really solid assisted or auto knife depending on you taste abilities and well disregard for legality

Every new person I've seen on sacair the past month has been necroposting, anyone else think it's a bit fishy?
