All i have to say is that most "American" cars, like those of Mustangs, Camaros and Firebirds do not show any REAL technological advancements from their first introductions back in the 50's and 60's. They have the simple formula of large displacement for high horsepower. However, if you were to take a look at those "little rice rockets" Integras, Celicas and rx7's you notice that every year the car is improved one way or the other to make a large difference in perfomance or driving experience while still being able to maintain good gas mileage and be eco friendly. I am not against either "american" or "import" cars. I just think that refinements and technological improvements are valued more than a big engine with bigger displacment. i could go on with more examples and more rebuttals but i just did this as a distraction from studying for finals.

we all clearly know that america doesnt make the best cars.... but back in the 60s they were making real nice stuff in comparision to others. i only like older cars that are american really, but i like a lot of things over rice rockets. just due to the fact most are 4 cyl(most as in most ones on streets that i see) and i hate the noise the stupid exust kits make. but im the ideal white kid in a way. i want a lifted truck, ride motox, slack in school ususally. ahhaahahhaha

I'd have to say that I'm in-between.
Look, I'm a politician, which means I lie, and I'm a cheat.

lol id rather have a muscle car and put the time and effort into the engine and make it actually nice and fast, unlike the import side, you can just buy a chip plug it in and BAM instant horses. well none the less im sure that any muscle car can out burn a import any day..HEHE POSI!!! =)

I can't make up my mind. Rice rocket, musle car. So many good cars to choose from, so little space to put them. But if I had to choose it would either be an acura integra, or a toyta supra. I know a guy who has a supra and I have a friend who has an integra. Both good cars. Would prob. go with the integra due to gas reasons. 4 cil against a 6 cil. So hard to choose.

HAHA what you need is a V8 that means BIG BALLS! not alittle 4-6 banger! well i have to say i have driven a 11 sec car, an acura integ to be exact, it had nos, i also had the chance to drive a 1996 Pontiac Firebird, with the most suped up motor i could ever imagine...and it had nos..that car ran 9 sec .25 miles...yes it was faster then the integ...

American cars tend to fall apart after less than 100,000 miles. I love big engines and high horsepower, but American cars just have shoddy construction. In contrast, my 1990 Audi has close to 150k miles and has never needed any major engine work.

xyclos_b don't you mean then he woke up and had a reality check. LOL I wish I had a car. All I got is a 21 speed moutain bike. But that doesn'y mean I don't try to race. I will beat anyone on the .25 mile. [wishing and hoping no one takes me up on that]

If I wanted a truck, I would buy American. If I wanted an everyday car, I would buy Japanese. If I wanted a sportscar, I would buy European.

I say american.... I think those rice rockets are nice and all but there are way too many on the road ever since that damn movie.... ;) A nice muscle car is a much cooler thing to look at and to hear.... although i wouldn't mind an M5....
How dare you include an RX-7 in that group!!! You need to get SLAPPED!!! (lol)
Dec 15, 2002 8:45am
fine fine fine, i retract calling them rice rockets, but i still put them in the same group because all of those cars can make huge hp numbers but its achilles heel is making torque. thats why. but youre right though it shouldnt be in that category since it is more of a sports car. mid engine, rwd, 50.50 balance, 2 seats, whatever. It just needs a great driver behind it like me. oh yeah i heard there was a new indoor kart track in sac, have you heard about it?
