for some reason i've heard 3inches was the legal limit to carry around for fixed blades in CA as well.
Switch blades must be under 2 inches, and you may not conceal a blade over the length of 3 inches. So, if you're 18, you may walk the streets with a katana sword on your waist.

I would also like to point out that it refers to the use of the dirk or dagger to stab people......but does not mention slashing.
Seek the Narrow Gate, for the path is broad and the gate is wide that leads to destruction.
have to remember to always have it visible, or it is considered concealed. This means any part of the knife must be visible.

Sadly, these laws make most of my knives display peices. And the only "weapons" I can actualy carry legaly anywhere (besides a simple pocket knife) are my 6' Bo, my 4 foot Jo, and my tonfa. You can apparently carry Nunchaku if you're over 18 and have earned a black belt in a martial art that has trained you to use them in a "Defensive style".

I can call the Jo a walking stick. And if I still can't get away with that, I've got a cane made of japanese oak and I know how to use that too. And I can carry that on an airplane.

I have a couple, but my favorite is my (I believe S&W) Rescue knife. Seatbelt cutter and window punch. And if you have ever used the Surefire knives, those are incredible! I wish I had the money.
