I don't know if this has been discussed, but does any one have any suggestions or warnings regarding radios? I've been looking at the ones on rei.com website. Thinking about the Midland's

Avoid the big bulky CB ones, Pulido and I had talked about switching to those, but I found they worked worse then the talkabout types. I can send you the brand and info name from the set I let you use last weekend. The batteries only died, because I hadn't charged them. Make sure whatever you get, it has sub channels.
Does sub channels mean privacy codes? Gottcha, staying away from the cobras..

My experience with sub channels (as I'm not expert on the matter) basically means others can hear you, but not walk on your traffic. When we run sub channels, others will often tune into our channel and listen, but not be able to broadcast. Just helps ensure integrity of your comms. I'd love to see more usage of comms as the few times we've deployed them effectively as a group, we've seen drastic differences in the outcome of the game.
Motorola makes some nice radios that don't break the bank. AudioVox makes some decent one's too, but their cheaper radios are very fragile.
