I was watching Band of Brothers yesterday and it got me thinking. Our generation is very Lucky. We have terroism and Saddam and all this stuff and we still have it EZ. My Grandfather Served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam and several other conflicts. My father Served in Vietnam. In WWII more than 440,000 Americans were killed from December 7 1941 to August 15 1945. That is 3 years 9 months, thats more than 117,000 dead a year(over 100 times what died per year in the war on terror from September 11 2001 to present.) In no way am I down playing the deaths in the current war.

wow.... very good post indeed. I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the men who flew B-25's in Jimmy Doolittle's raid over Tokyo. That is an experience I will forever cherish. I am lucky to have met and talked with as many veterans as I have, because, like Kahn said, they won't be here in a few years, and they need to be thanked for what they have done for us. Thanks for that post Kahn.

Dude.... that is the best quote ever.... "We are not retreating-we are advancing in a different direction." I could totally see that on the French Army's new recruiting posters.....

My grandpa was in WWII and 3 uncles in Vietnam, they were all navy boys and only got to see half of the conflict. The would see men leave th eboat and never return, too many losses for a political war(vietnam).
