Does anybody know the lifespan of a bulletproof vest? I have one made by armour of america and its from the 80's. Need one for my Explorer post and wanted to know if it would work. I know that it would depend on if it has even been impacted by a bullet but this was hasnt.

my buddy got smoked in the chest plate of his IOTV(with esapi plates) 2 times by an ak from less than 50 meters and was good. then some dick shot him 3 times in the arm with a pkm. our boys then toasted that a hole and fixed up my bud, so hes still around.

As Steve and Dave both stated, the proper terminology is "Body Armor" and yes they somewhat have a shelf life depending upon how vintage they are.
