Hello WWII Airsofters. I have just recently been bitten by the WWII airsoft bug and have JUST started out building up a German impression. I had a question to ask of all the WWII airsofters/reenactors out there before I go any further (read spend more money). As far as playing with airsoft guns goes, are there certain limits placed on weapons?

There are different rules with SacAir for WW2 Games and our normal airsoft games. Such as FPS limits on rifles (semi auto garands and kar98s) being 450fps not 400fps like normal games, smg's limited to 400fps.
Mostly I would like to see use of all low cap magazines for ww2 airsoft, with only MGs being allowed box mags or hicaps. As far as FPS limits... really there are non right now. Although a lot of the M1 garands are being upgraded to around 450. This allowed the rifles to have the range advantage as it should be. We are still starting out and figuring out how we want to run our ww2 games. As far as rate of fire... mp40s and grease guns were fairly slow... however thompsons had a pretty high rate of fire. We have no ROF restrictions and honestly, I can't see there really being a reason for it. However, I think you will find that using low cap magazines causing a lot of fire disipline. Most of our group has m1s (or m14s as a stand in), and I would like to see it stay that way. Pretty much we have a squad sized group, and there should be one SMG, one LMG, and the rest are riflemen. Basicly, what you are hoping for, we are also working to get there. Hope that you will join us soon!

In my opinion, it is all about the gear. When I am running full speed down the field trying to keep my helmet on or holding onto something to keep it from falling off, it feels more realistic than having a period accurate gun. I bought my gear first and my gun second. I have an m14 (that can only shoot semi automatic) with low caps that shoots around 410. Carrying around low caps in a bandoleer feels realistic in the sense that I have to change magazines more often. Getting to the magazines is a whole other story. Having a cool looking period accurate gun is cool and all, but having gear that makes you feel like you stepped back in time is even cooler.

first off i am NOT a WWII airsofter but ive looked into getting into it in the past. but in my opinion the gear and weapon is obviously the biggest thing but if i were to do it i would want the mag capacity as close as humanly possible to the real thing like i wouldnt want a 400 round hicap with an M1 garand lol but thats just me. a part of playing the role of a WWII veteran is dealing with the hardships of war back then. now that war has been modernized its ALOT easier as far as gear weapons ammo etc.

We run MP40s, MP44s and a MG42 in our Unit right now.

Bizcuits, I believe the number of "converts" from Blankfire Reenacting to also Airsoft Reenacting in our Unit numbers 10, with that number split between MP40s and MP44s.
